back story
SUNY New Paltz & NYU Alumnus, Terri was a successful Art Educator and Administrator for over a decade. She represented the NYC & NYS Board of Arts Education Association, taught grades K-12, and led educational workshops, initiated a variety mentorship programs for new educators and spend her 12 years dedicated to make arts education a valued staple in the education system and NOT an accessory.
The Journey
In 2015, she began a new professional chapter as a full-time mixed media artist and Founder of Handmade in Brooklyn, a.k.a Art Mom Coach.
Back then Terri sold screen printed apparel, leather accessories, original mixed media prints, mixed media paintings at markets, pop ups, group art shows, residencies and any other opportunity that would develop her skill set as a woman in business.
With little guidance on how to BE a profitable artist in business, she discovered so many other artists & makers in a similar position.
She started her collective, Handmade in Brooklyn and immediately filled a gap between professional development and small business owner creatives who had very little business skills.
With over a decade of educational leadership and learning, experiencing and tons of research, this led her into the private coaching world for to emerging artists in business as a way to help them minimize the risk and gain all the reward. Giving back, dismantling the starving artist mindset and guiding those wanting to profit from their work became her sole and soul passion.
Now
Brooklyn Resident Terri, is currently coaching Artists in Business in all stages of their careers through 1:1 coaching, group programs, workshops, webinars and speaking engagements.
She continues to engage and support the artists industry in ways that will help ease the transition from the traditional work environment, into the realities of freelancing as a professional artist.
