Jalena Hay’s work takes control of chaos through intricate, layered compositions using pen, ink, gouache, pastel, and colored pencil. Balancing abstraction and emotion, her pieces explore impermanence, resilience, and interconnectedness.

Originally from Southern California, Jalena studied Drawing and Printmaking at Pratt Institute in New York, where she was mentored by artists like Thomas Bosket and Jennifer Melby.

 

Her love for printmaking led her to Amsterdam to further explore lithography and the expressive possibilities of line and texture.

Now based in Brooklyn, she continues to evolve her practice and exhibit across New York, with recent shows at Dodomu, Long Island City Artists, and ENGN. Her work has appeared in Suboart Magazine and Canvas Rebel, and she is set to attend the Vermont Studio Center Residency in 2025.
